Rev. Wakefield Gale Papers, 1765-1919.

Presbyterian minister in Eastport, Me. (1828-1835), Gloucester (1836-1840), Rockport (1840-1859), and other towns in Massachusetts. Collection includes correspondence, diaries, account books of Gale family members, and Gale family correspondence. Wakefield Gale Papers includes correspondence, diaries, personal account books and sermons. The majority of the correspondence to Gale is from his wife Mary L. Gale, his children, and various other sources. There is also correspondence between Gale and his parishes, spanning almost fifty years of Gales life. Gales diaries begin when he was still attending Andover Academy and continue until 1878. Mary Louisa Bigelow Gale Papers includes correspondence to Mary L. Bigelow Gale from her children and various other sources. There is also correspondence addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Lyman R. Williston, daughter and son-in-law to Reverend Gale. Joseph Gale Papers includes account books of Joseph Gale, Reverend Gales father (1792 until 1848). Samuel Gale Papers includes an account book of Samuel Gale dating from 1765.
